Paying your way
How residents cover rent.
Most men pay from more than one source while they get on their feet.
| Source | How it works here |
|---|---|
| Job or wages | The most common. You'll need work, school or IOP within 30 days. |
| SSDI or SSI | We match your due date to your deposit date. |
| VA benefits | Veterans can use disability or other VA income toward rent. |
| Family | Family can pay us directly. |
| Programs | Some programs and courts help with first-month rent. Ask your case manager. |
Cost questions
Straight answers.
How much is sober living at Merit?
$850 a month per bed, with utilities, Wi-Fi, furnished bed, linens and laundry included. You can pay weekly or monthly.
What do I need to move in?
Your first month's rent, or your first week if you're paying weekly, plus a clean drug screen and your signed resident agreement.
Can I pay with SSDI or SSI?
Yes. Many residents do. We can line your rent due date up with the day your benefit arrives.
Will insurance, Medicare or Medicaid pay my rent?
No. Insurance doesn't pay rent at a sober living home. It may cover your IOP, counseling and medication while you live here.
Can my family pay?
Yes. Family members can pay directly.
